Project Lead Buyer (f/m/d)

The Project Lead Buyer is acting as the main procurement contact for the engineering and development project teams.

The Person holding the position is ensuring that all material and parts requirements out of the development projects are met in terms of availability, cost and supplier quality.

 

Your Responsibilities

  • Requests for quotation for prototype, flight and serial parts/materials as well as production required jigs & tools
  • In alignment with the Commodity Managers and based on the preferred supplier portfolio selection of possible suppliers based on the technical, economic and quality requirements
  • Support with the calculation for customer offers, providing procurement parts and materials cost overviews
  • Clarification of the technical feasibility with the suppliers and introduction of (alternative) solution proposals (design to cost) from suppliers in the concept phase
  • Negotiating prices and conditions as well as establishing framework agreements and contracts together with the commodity managers
  • Continuously optimizes total cost of ownership (TCO) and drives savings initiatives
  • Representation of the purchasing interests in the product development process (BOM, specification/drawing availability, meeting cost targets and manufacturing deadlines)
  • Ensure all externally sourced BOM parts, materials and jigs are available in line with the project milestones
  • Highlight potential deviations from plan (cost, time, quality), defining and ensuring counter actions
  • Maintenance of ERP procurement article data.
  • Ensuring the sourcing in line with the company’s and general legal sourcing rules.
  • Issuing and follow-up orders (if applicable together with the Purchasers and Buyers)
  • Coordination and implementation of the needs and requirements of materials management and production planning
  • Occasionally carrying out incoming goods inspections
  • Participation in supplier qualification and development
  • Issuing and follow-up on supplier quality claims

 

Your Profile

  • Completed technical and/or commercial education and 3+ years in-depth technical and operational sourcing experience
  • Experience in global sourcing and good technical understanding
  • High awareness for costs and quality
  • Good negotiation skills and high drive for results
  • High reliability and adherence to deadlines
  • Experience working in project environment and multifunctional teams
  • Experience in the use of ERP system and related procurement administrative and control tasks
  • Space or Aerotec experience would be an advantage
  • Fluent English and German is a must
  • Lean and Six Sigma education & experience would be an asset
  • Sensible and emphatic communication skills
  • Good stress resistance, able to stay structured, focused on the key priorities
  • Willingness to travel
