Quality Engineer

Main Tasks:

• Support development of Acceptance Data Packages per customer requirements, generating elements related to product build documentation; these tasks are performed at a high level with oversight of the manufacturing process operations from a Quality perspective and interface with the Operations team to assure shop documentation, non-conformances and redlined changes are managed in a manner resulting in effective in-process closures during the Product build cycle. This is an influence skill set to drive performance expectations for team members.
• Generate Non-Conformance (NC) documentation and participate in Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) activities – requires ability to interpret customer and internal models / drawings, specifications and Statements of Work in defining non-conformance
• Support Quality Inspection and Supplier Quality functions in interpreting product definition requirements for inspection, either in-process or received components
• Prepare production related metrics and apply data analysis to improvement projects in reduction of loss and increased production throughput
• Support review of design documentation initial release and revisions relative to customer Quality requirements and ability to inspect as designed configuration
• Lead teams to utilize LEAN process initiatives for waste reduction and maintaining facility continuous improvement initiatives
• Demonstrated skills in structured problem solving methods at a level suitable to act as mentor for facility personnel

 

Requirements/Skill Set:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET accredited university – aerospace or mechanical majors preferred; Associates degree and/or extensive relevant experience, including military, may be considered
• Five [5] years minimum of experience of increasing responsibility in aerospace design, manufacturing, or quality functions; relevant background in industries of similar customer and regulatory requirements considered, along with applicable military service
• Composite materials product inspection experience is strongly preferred
• Ability to adapt to a dynamic condition on the floor with start up activity for the facility and individual programs
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; an ability to develop documentation clearly conveying non-conformances and process history for internal and external use is a key position requirement
• Ability to work in cross functional team and international settings
• GD&T knowledge per ANSI Y14.5 and Y14.41 at a level suitable to act as mentor to personnel in the facility
• AS9102 First Article experience to a level suitable for defining documentation requirements to Operations and managing shop launch of FAIs / compiling final reports
• Strong PC skills in Microsoft Excel, Word ,Power Point, Vizio, etc... required; CAD, analysis or math software experience considered a plus
• SAP knowledge; similar systems background will be also considered
• Must be able to travel both international and domestic as required with potential of extended travel to Switzerland for initial training
