Quality Engineer, Supplier

Main Tasks:

• Evaluates supplier's manufacturing and sub-tier management capabilities to provide data for approval review of potential suppliers and periodic re-approvals of current supply chain resources through both on-site and remote surveys
• Initiates and manages non-conformances of supplier items for resolution and disposition of materials, followed by issuing / managing Root Cause Corrective Action [RCCA] with the supplier.
• Maintains metrics on supplier performance related to on-time delivery, material / product conformance and associated key parameters
• Generates Inspection Checklists for Receiving Inspection and assigns sampling inspection levels based on Supplier performance / contractual requirements; working in conjunction with the facility’s Inspection Supervisor, the SQE assists inspection personnel, as required, in evaluation of incoming goods and non-conformance definition
• Reviews supplier AS9102 First Article Inspection reports, providing direct support to resolve issues as required
• Support concurrent engineering between RUAG USA and supply base, i.e. Design for Manufacturability


Requirements/Skill Set:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET accredited university – aerospace or mechanical majors preferred; Associates degree and/or extensive relevant experience may be considered
• Ten [10] years minimum of experience of increasing responsibility in aerospace design, manufacturing, or quality functions; relevant background in industries of similar customer and regulatory requirements considered
• Composite materials product inspection experience is strongly preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; an ability to develop documentation clearly conveying non-conformances and process history for internal and external use is a key position requirement
• Ability to work in cross functional team and international settings
• Strong understanding of Engineering Mechanical Processes, Standard Drawings Conventions, Interpreting Drawing, Specifications, and GD&T knowledge per ANSI Y14.5 and Y14.41
• Technical knowledge in special process disciplines / NADCAP (National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program) / precision machining / aerospace composites
• AS9102 First Article experience to a level suitable for defining documentation requirements to Operations and managing shop launch of FAIs / compiling final reports
• Strong PC skills in Microsoft Excel, Word ,Power Point, Vizio, etc... required; CAD, analysis or math software experience considered a plus
• SAP knowledge; similar systems background will be also considered
• Ability to travel approximately 20 – 40% of the time
