About us

At RUAG Space in Linköping, about 160 people work with the development and manufacture of advanced equipment for use in space. Our main products are adapter and separation systems where we are the world leader. With 90 % of the commercial market, we supply all major launch service providers in the world with equipment for launching satellites of all sizes. The space industry is currently undergoing an exciting change where the traditional space industry is being challenged by “New Space”. This includes new technologies and solutions, and it’s becoming increasingly important to be able to handle many different types of customers, suppliers, and products. About our team

Manufacturing Engineering (ME) are located within our Operations department, that consists of approx. 60 people working together both internally and cross functional. Within Operations we are responsible for Manufacturing Engineering, Production, Production Planning & Support, and Logistics & Facility. The ME team is responsible for production support with the vision to drive world class Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery performance into the business. The ME team is growing and today we are eight employees in the team.


Your main responsibilities

  • Provide daily support to manufacturing operations and related support teams in order to assure technically correct manufacturing and product flow
  • Define the details of manufacturing for composite structures and optimize existing processes utilizing lean manufacturing principles, based on the basics defined by M&P and System Engineering 
  • Assure VSM methods are applied, DfM and DtC activities are executed, organize that suitable tooling and equipment is available as needed 
  • Work cross-functionally with operations, quality, design engineering, and other teams to define manufacturing work instructions, equipment, tools, materials, and training 
  • Utilize project management techniques / tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements 
  • Play key role in the non-conformance process and secure measures for root cause analyses, corrective and preventive measures 
  • Support continuous improvements in all concerned manufacturing processes to deliver in line with customer quality, cost, and demand requirements 
  • Establish and provide the necessary documentation for strategic operations programs as well as for customer programs, support and participate in project reviews as necessary 
  • Support the evaluation of infrastructure and equipment investments, establish technical and business case documentation and take leading role in their implementation through procurement, installation, verification/validation until transition into daily operation 
  • Proactively support and coach the production technicians through frontline support utilizing an integrated project team approach; provide training material (both software and hardware) as needed 
  • Establish standard work practices across manufacturing and eliminate waste to increase productivity 
  • Develop and verify new jigs, tooling, equipment, parts, and processes to meet requirements  
  • Co-work in the Bidding team for quotations, concept work and developments, interdisciplinary collaboration in make-or-buy decisions  
  • Provide cost and schedule support with expert RC cost and schedule estimates, NRC cost and schedule estimates, support LLI activities together with NRC and RC project teams as well as production operations and production control teams 
  • Actively participate in the change management process as it relates to your respective manufacturing process, driving and implementing process / design changes, support improvement of business processes 
  • Work with international colleagues in order to evaluate, improve, and transfer latest state processes and maintain standardization across the company portfolio 


You will work closely with your colleagues in operations, design, manufacturing engineering, but also broadly across the company linked to ongoing projects. We also collaborate with other RUAG sites in Europe and the US.  



  • B.Sc. degree in a related engineering field
  • 5+ years of Manufacturing Engineering work experience in an industrial setting 
  • CNC background/experience
  • Knowledge of quality and safety standards, including AS9100 and OSHA or similar  
  • Experience with composite, metallic, and non-metallic materials 
  • Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma knowledge/experience; experience with ERP systems (preferably IFS), MS Office 
  • Solution driven, willing to make a difference, strong entrepreneurial thinking, and customer-orientation 
  • Passionate and co-operative performer who puts success of team first 
  • Excellent organizational and co-ordination skills  
  • Outstanding communication and teamwork ability  


Space or Aerospace experience, production line leadership experience, experience with MES/CAD will be an advantage but not a requirement.
