AMB21 VP Business Development & Strategy

We are looking for a candidate that will ensure the long term profitability, competitiveness, efficiency, development, delivery and customer success of RUAG Space.  By leading the Business Development & Strategy function, this individual will develop and drive company strategy, and contribute as an accountable member of the RUAG Space management team. 

 

Main Tasks:

  • Actively and accountably contributes to the RUAG Space management team and to the definition of the company strategy
  • Actively contributes to and facilitates the continuous development of the RUAG Space business and organisation as a whole to secure the fulfilment of the overall company objectives
  • Leads and directs the Business Development team function with 6 people
  • Owns, secures the implementation of and follows up the top level strategy for the efforts and outcome within the Business Development functions
  • Is accountable for
    • Creating and implement new market opportunities globally, with focus on US (DOD, Civil and Commercial)
    • Positioning RUAG in winning industrial teams for large US Govt and EU Govt Programs
    • Penetrating Supply Chain of large US primes & EU Primes
    • Building up new customers among Start-ups & New Space companies,supported by the Key Account & Sales, Project Management and Engineering functions.
  • Responsible for preparing and approving  budgets within the business development function, in line with to the RUAG delegation matrix
  • Proactively communicates and aligns with the EVP and adjacent top management within RUAG Space for best practice and synergies between functions
  • Takes the managerial responsibility towards the direct reports, owning the people processes such as competence planning, recruitment, performance management, development etc.
  • Leads according to the RUAG Space’s Values and Code of Conduct, and drives the people & leadership development within the function

 

Requirements/Skill Set:

  • Education in Engineering, M.Sc. level
  • Management track record of leading leaders
  • Extensive network with key decision makers at US National Space and Aeronautics Agency, Space Procurement offices under the US Dept of Defense, and other US Space procurement agencies
  • Additional experience in die European Space industry is a candidate differentiator.
  • Proven track record in growing business in the Space industry, including successful Mergers & Acquisition transactions. Solid background in a project-based industry
  • Excellent communication skills, strategic mind-set with holistic view and good analytical skills
  • Top Secret Clearance preferred
