Master Thesis Work - High Performance Space Computer Demonstration

Background
RUAG Space is currently developing the next generation Space Computer hardware. It is characterized by the use of commercial components, significantly higher performance (an order of magnitude) and modern operating systems.

We would like to showcase this hardware using a (visually) appealing demonstration for conventions/exhibitions. The focus should be to have a demonstration that attracts visitors to a booth.

RUAG have today both a Power PC based computer and an ARM based computer under developmnet. Either one can be used for this implementation.

 

 

Thesis description

  • The first task is to define what to implement where you as students will have a large amount of freedom
  • The demo could be in the field of artificial intelligence, steering a robot with help of different sensors and/or cameras, image processing and recognition or any other compelling application
  • The core is an application software demonstrating the performance, but additional HW may be needed (bought/designed)
  • The next task is to design the solution and finally implement it

 

The work is a master of science thesis project of 30 credit points and the duration is 20 weeks for two students.

Starting time is as soon as possible in agreement with the student.
