Senior Manager, Business Development

WHO WE ARE:

RUAG Space USA, Inc. (RSU) is a U.S. incorporated company, staffed 100% with U.S. persons.  We are registered with the U.S. Department of State as a manufacturing and exporter of defense articles, as required under ITAR. The RSU Denver Electronics team works in concert with RUAG Space Product Units (PUs) in Europe.

RUAG Space is a leading supplier of products for the institutional and commercial space markets in Europe and the USA. RUAG Space has three product groups:

  • Space Electronics
    • Electronics delivering computers and interface units for satellites and launchers, navigation receivers & signal processing, power & drive electronics, microwave for telecom satellites and space antennas.
  • Spacecraft Hardware
    • Spacecraft delivering structures, mechanisms, slip rings, thermal systems and MGSE.
  • Launch Systems
    • Launchers delivering fairings, structures, adapters, dispensers and sounding rocket guidance systems.

 

With over 40 years of experience in the development of cutting-edge space technologies, RUAG has more than 1,100 hardware systems on-orbit with 100% operational success including more than 300 launches without failure.

 

 

REQUIRED SKILLS: The right candidate will have, demonstrable on the resume, at least ten years' worth of experience selling highly technical solutions to the aerospace and spacecraft industry. You must have a technical understanding, not just a sales pitch, about Navigation Receivers, Signal Processing, Microwave, and Antennas. Finally, you must have at least a BS degree in some form of technical engineering, from an accredited university.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

This position reports to the Director of Electronic Systems Group and is responsible for building a portfolio of contracts with U.S customers. While this position will support business development for the entire electronics portfolio, a focus will be placed on support to the RUAG Product Units for Navigation Receivers and Signal Processing, Microwave, and Antennas.

  • Responsible for the sale of company products and/or services.
  • Makes and develops contacts with existing and potential customers.
  • Analyzes existing and anticipated customer requirements and promotes consideration of company products and services to fill such requirements.
  • Participates in the preparation of sales plans and campaigns, business plans, and product development plans. Conducts sales presentations.
  • Maintains up-to-date and accurate sales records. 
  • Maintains technical proficiency and consults with prospective customers regarding use of company products and services. Quotes prices and delivery dates and demonstrates and provides information on the use of products.
  • Keeps informed of new products and other information of interest to customers. Investigates new applications or improvements to existing products. Provides marketing intelligence to sales management.
  • Participate in the development of sales forecasts and strategies. Support the Product Units in their sales forecasting efforts.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a technical engineering field from a credited university.
  • Technical knowledge of Navigation Receivers and Signal Processing, Microwave, and Antennas.
  • Experience with leading and preparing whitepapers/ROMs/proposals.
  • Ability to travel at least 30% of the time, including international travel.
  • Must be able to acquire a Security Clearance.

 

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Demonstrated experience developing customer contacts and obtaining contracts for satellite technology.
  • Contacts with commercial and government entities for the potential sale of Navigation Receivers and Signal Processing, Microwave, and Antennas satellite technology.
  • Experience with international business.
  • Experience leading small teams of engineers.
  • Ability to flourish with minimal guidance, be proactive, and handle uncertainty.
  • Comfortable working with geographically dispersed teams.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
