What brought me to RUAG?
Very unusually for me, I was sitting “on the other side of the table” and could present and show my skills during two personal interviews. In addition to my potential line managers, I also had an opportunity to meet the internal customers, i.e. managers in the area I would be responsible for. 

What I like particularly about my job:
The intensive daily contact with many people, inside and outside the company. In addition to the employees in the areas for which I am responsible, I’m also in regular contact with stakeholders outside RUAG. I enjoy meeting new people, but I also like assisting employees with their everyday work over longer periods (e.g. as part of reintegration within the framework of company health management or promoting/supporting their further development). However, I also appreciate the fact that I can also do things by myself. Variety is the spice of life!

My biggest highlight so far:
I actually have minor highlights every day. For instance, when I get to confirm that a person’s application for a job at RUAG was successful or when a line manager thanks me for being able to give him a tip for a forthcoming meeting. But my personal highlight was my two-and-a-half-month internship in Australia. At the end of 2018, I got an opportunity to travel to Melbourne for various projects and, for example, help with the introduction of a new HR system there. This was an unforgettable experience, from both a work and a personal perspective. 

What it is about RUAG that fascinates me?
There’s much more to RUAG than most people realise. In my job, I get a chance to develop a modern HR system together with a professional team. For example, we introduced a development centre for managerial staff. You don’t get opportunities like that in many companies. And to be honest, I’ll never stop being amazed by the sight of a Super Puma taking off just a few metres from my office! 

What does my typical working day look like?
As Human Resources Manager, I support all the processes in the employee lifecycle, from HR planning to assisting with departures. HR is fast-paced and all sorts of things can happen in a single day, from an initial interview for a logistics job to saying goodbye to an employee retiring after many years at RUAG. 

What development opportunities does RUAG offer?
From my own career, I can confirm that RUAG encourages its staff. I finished my continuing training course in HR Management in 2018. At the end of that year, I was allowed to go on an internship in Australia. And since January 2019, I assumed overall responsibility for two support units of MRO Switzerland. If you are committed, driven and flexible, there are plenty of exciting opportunities for career development at RUAG.

What makes RUAG an attractive employer for me?
I have enormous flexibility in my daily work, be it in organising my own duties, the working hours and the choice of workplace. I am encouraged, can put new ideas into practice, take on responsibility and am given the necessary skills. However, first and foremost it is the professionalism at every level. That's a precondition for me.
